Originally trained in Physical Geography, Itsaso joined the company seven years ago after graduating. What attracted her immediately was the opportunity to continue working in the field she felt passionate about: Earth observation and remote sensing.
“I’ve always been fascinated by looking at the Earth from above,” she explains. “After my studies, I wanted to continue working in that field. Terramira felt welcoming from the start, and I could see there was room to grow here.”
Today, Itsaso works as a Project Manager within agricultural projects. Her role combines coordination, communication and leadership. She manages project teams, budgets, planning and client relationships to ensure projects are delivered successfully and create value for customers.
“My job is making sure projects actually work. That teams can collaborate well, deadlines are met and clients receive strong results.”
A typical day starts with meetings and coordination. Together with clients, partners and colleagues, she sets priorities and discusses progress. At the same time, she actively helps her team overcome challenges and keeps projects moving forward.
But according to Itsaso, the real energy comes from the people around her.
“What I enjoy most is working with my colleagues. It’s never a lonely job. We work together constantly, and I really appreciate how responsible, motivated and supportive people are here.”
That collaborative culture is one of the things she values most about Terramira. She describes the company as a place where people are naturally curious and continuously looking to learn and improve.
“People here ask questions. They want to understand things better. There’s a strong sense of ownership and responsibility, and because of that, people trust each other.”
Compared to previous workplaces, she also appreciates the structure and clarity within the organisation.
“Everyone understands their role and what needs to be done. It feels like we’re all rowing in the same direction.”
For Itsaso, the impact of the work is another important motivator. She works on projects connected to the European Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) in countries such as the Netherlands, Ireland and the United Kingdom. The data and insights generated through these projects directly support farmers and help governments make informed decisions.
“Our work helps farmers receive subsidies and supports more sustainable agriculture. We can actually see how innovation, policy and environmental impact come together.”
She is particularly proud of the company’s international growth and recognition.
“A big milestone was when we were selected to work with the UK government. The experience we built in other countries gave them confidence in our expertise, and that was something I felt very proud of.”
Outside of work, Itsaso enjoys spending time with friends, cooking, sports and climbing. She describes herself as a social person who enjoys being surrounded by people — something that also reflects in the way she approaches teamwork.
And what would she say to someone considering a career at Terramira?
“It’s a very flexible place to work. There’s room to explore different directions, move between teams and develop your career in a way that fits you. At the same time, there’s flexibility for your personal life too. And honestly, the people here make a huge difference.”
